# Discounts & Coupons

## Discounts, coupons, etc.

Create discount or coupon codes to incentivize things like early registration, sibling discounts, promotions, etc. What is the difference between discounts and coupons? 

**Discounts:**

- Discounts are created in dollar amounts
- Appear during the registration process; participants can select them
- You can only have them display between certain dates if you want
- You can choose to apply them automatically

**Coupons:**

- Coupons can be created in dollar or percentage off amounts
- Do not appear during the registration process
- Participants must have the exact code and they can enter it on the checkout page
- We have a "blanket" coupon that can apply to any session called a "Future Credit". The Future Credits tab is in the Financials section and is typically used for things like scholarships, refunds from past events, etc.
